Day 4- Monday 9-15-2014
A Day of recovery for both Tom and myself....Bacon & eggs & Advil to start the day instead of poptarts a definite plus. Final pic from day 3 a panorama Tom took:
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. - Psalms119:105
Final word on yesterdays hunt -hiking out approximately 6 miles via head lamp was an adventure unto itself. Definitely greatest distance I have ever walked at night in the woods and made me think of the above verse.
After some rest this morning and a good breakfast it was grab the fly rods, waders time, and gear up to try for our first Utah Trout. We Decided to fish on Diamond Fork Creek just west of Springville Utah.
First time in the waders since last winter and losing a little weight. Two fists now fit where my fat belly used to be. Nice to have to take up some slack today
Toms first Utah Trout on a size 10 parachute hopper. Beautiful fish and scrappy fighter.
Marks
first fish is on- small brown but it was still my first Utah Trout-
there not all monsters.Caught on a 9 Ft. 5 weight rod my dad Chet
built while recovering from surgery in 2010. Thought of how much he
would have loved today.
Yes - Utah is also cattle country. Was greeted by the local herd black angus when I arrived back at car to get something to drink and go find my buddy Tom.
Tom is burning all the daylight he can getting in a few more casts before heading out.
Back on the hunt for Mule deer and Elk tomorrow.
Mark, great blog. I enjoyed and I am here. Thanks for immortalized the special panoramic shot. You also know it is a great day when the only folks you are hanging out with live on an open range behind a cattle grate across a road and are curious enough about who you are so as to wonder over and watch you fish.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like the two of you are having a fantastic time.
