Montana Hunt Day 12

September 9th

Taking a break from hunting today to do a little sight seeing and fishing. Headed up the Boulder to the Gallatin NF main north entrance.

Lions Head rock formation . Upthrust of the sea floor from millions of years  ago . At 8000 ft above sea level now.Amazing.

 Recoverd from the fight but still hung out with me a minute,

 Dinner tonight ...Antelope heart and gravy over toast. TRust me it was delicious.

Montana Hunt 2018 Day 11

September 8th
News- speed goat finally down. Got a shot about 9 am at this old nanny doe antelope. If you look close yes she does have small horns, Some of the femasles do sport horms but it pretty unusual. Just proud to fill another tag here in MT.

September  7th

Not much to show for today. Found a few Meriams jakes while looking for antelope today. Otherwise same frustrations on the antelope and again no Elk spotted. But a great day to be doing what I love

September 6th

Cabin I am staying in on the Boulder River at the CWC Ranch

Makeshift blind behind a berm on the edge of an Alfalfa field the antelope have been frequenting. Hoping to get a shot

Couldnt make it to the blind as there were 33 antelope on the field so i waited em out behind berm. Got a shot at a buck tonight at 60 yards  about 7 pm after a 5 hour wait and  I missed low. no excuses but wind was a huge factor. Maybe tomorrow??

Montana Hunt 2018- Day 8

September 5th

Antelope hunted this morning on walk in access and state lands near Melville MT. Found several groups of antelope and got busted on several stalks, but hey thats bow hunting Antelope.

Saw this group of cattle on the way back from the antelope hunt. Not sure what kind of cattle they are.

 .The old Barn at the ranch I'm staying at. Very pretty and weathered through a lot of tough winters.

 Old farm machinery near the barn. If these implements could talk i'll bet they could tell some tales.

Didn't see any Elk this evening. But tomorrows another day. Not giving up just yet.

Montana Hunt 2018- Day 7

September 4 -made the move today from big timber to the boulder river cabin. looking forward to being close to the river and the Elk.  put a few miles on the boots today scouting and trying to pick apart the elk movement patterns.
